U.S. Senate candidate and former Mayor of Chatanooga, Bob Corker will speak to the SCYRs in August. In order to accomidate the busy schedule of Mr. Corker, the meeting date will be the 3rd Tuesday of August, August 16th as opposed to the normal 2nd Tuesday. We will be taking the entire room at the Fox & Hound in order to accomidate an expected larger than usual crowd. The other Senate candidates will be scheduled as soon as their schedules can allow it.
The 2005 Tennessee Young Republican Federation, Inc Convention will be held on September 9-10 in Knoxville, Tennessee. The convention will be held at the Downtown Hilton, where convention room rates will be $89 per room per night. Registration fees are $75 per person.
I will host a Friday night party for all incoming convention delegates and guests in the hospitality suite. I am running for TYRF chairman, and Shelby County is also well represented by Don Johnson and Robyn Crawford, who are running for secretary and west Tennessee field director, respectively. We need as many convention delegates as possible to elect our Shelby County YRs as well as every other YR running on my ticket.
Please mark the second weekend of September on your calendar for the TYRF convention. It is always a fun event where you can meet many Young Republicans across Tennessee and Republican elected officials across the state as well.
I will keep everyone up to date on further convention developments. For more info, contact me at (901) 494-0018 or ddaniel@midsouth.rr.com.
On July 12 the SCYR will hold their monthly meeting at the Fox & Hound on Sanderlin. Our speaker this month will be State Representative (and YR) Brian Kelsey. He will be speaking on being a freshman statesman as well as a yearly wrap-up of the General Assembly. Brian is a great speaker, this is a meeting you will not want to miss.
